Structural Engineering Services in Pompano Beach
We handle threshold and special inspections, structural condition assessment, concrete and balcony restoration engineering, milestone and safety inspections, structural design and analysis, plans review, forensic engineering and expert witness work.
Pompano Beach runs from the beachfront condominium corridor along A1A and the Intracoastal to the industrial and warehouse district west of Dixie Highway and the airpark. The coastal buildings bring chloride-driven corrosion and balcony repairs; the inland buildings bring tilt-wall, metal building and tenant improvement work.
Either way the method is the same: document what is there, calculate, and issue documents a building official and a contractor can both work from.

Threshold Buildings and Special Inspector Work
Threshold buildings are generally those over three stories or 50 feet, or assembly occupancies over 5,000 square feet with more than 500 occupants, as defined in Fla. Stat. 553.71(12). They require a special inspector on the structural work, and Jonnatan R. Mendez holds that credential. Our Pompano Beach project involved continuous inspection of designated critical activities during structural repairs, including shoring, reinforcement placement and concrete work. See our structural plans review page
for independent plan examination and peer review.
Concrete Restoration and Structural Repair Design
We prepare signed and sealed repair documents for concrete spalling, balcony slab edges, railing attachments, column and beam repairs and waterproofing interfaces, and we stay on through construction when the work requires inspection.
On the coastal buildings the repair detail matters as much as the diagnosis: cover over the reinforcement, the bond between existing and new concrete, and how water is kept out of the repair afterward.
On the industrial side we design mezzanines, racking and equipment support, roof framing changes, dock and canopy structures and repairs to existing tilt-wall and masonry buildings.
Inspections, Assessments and Forensic Work
Broward County's Building Safety Inspection Program
starts at 25 years and covers most building types, and residential condominium and cooperative buildings three or more habitable stories tall also owe a state milestone inspection. We perform both inspections and issue the reports.
When a structure fails or the cause of damage is disputed, we investigate: structural failures, storm and water damage, construction defect claims, balcony and railing incidents and premises liability matters.
Reports are written for the audience that has to act on them: cause and scope for an adjuster, code basis for a building official, findings that hold up in deposition for counsel.
Areas We Serve Around Pompano Beach
