Naples Follows the State Milestone Law, Not a Separate County Program

Collier County has no recertification ordinance beyond the state requirement. Condominium and cooperative buildings three habitable stories or taller owe a milestone inspection at 25 years within three miles of the coastline, or 30 years further inland, under Fla. Stat. 553.899. The county mails notices directly to associations as each building reaches its trigger year.

Coastal Concrete and Storm-Related Repair Design

Naples carries the same salt-air corrosion pattern common to Florida's Gulf coast: cracking and spalling at balcony edges, railings, and columns on older concrete buildings.

Hurricane Ian's 2022 track crossed Collier County too, and we produce signed and sealed repair and rebuild drawings for buildings still working through storm-related damage alongside routine milestone-driven repairs.

Structural and Forensic Work Across Collier County

Jonnatan R. Mendez, PE, SI, works across Naples, Collier County and Southwest Florida on structural design, forensic engineering, and premises liability investigations for owners, insurers, and counsel.

Reports are written to hold up under scrutiny, whether that scrutiny comes from a building official, an insurance adjuster, or opposing counsel.

Common Questions About Structural Engineering in Naples

  • Does Naples or Collier County run a separate building recertification program?

No. Unlike Miami-Dade, Broward, and Boca Raton, Collier County has no county-level recertification ordinance beyond the state milestone law. The county administers the state's 25- or 30-year trigger directly and mails notices to associations.

  • Does Jonnatan have direct experience with Naples buildings?

Yes. He served as Engineering Director for Halliwell Engineering Associates in Naples before founding M&P Consulting Engineers, and he works across Naples and Collier County.

  • Can you handle repairs tied to Hurricane Ian damage in Collier County?

Yes. Storm damage assessment, forensic investigation, and repair or rebuild design are standing services for Naples and Collier County properties still working through Ian-related repairs.

  • How quickly can you start on a Naples project?

Call 866-531-7621 with the scope and any regulatory deadline attached to it, and we will give you a timeline on the call.
